Israeli Politician Protects Illegal Casinos Online- Operating Dad
In Israel, the name Gavrieli has long been associated with white- collar crime, and the last week brought a new chapter in a long book of allegations of wrong- doing. Not for the first time, Shoni and Reuven Gavrieli were arrested earlier this week, accused of money laundering and running casinos online. Both men are currently under house arrest.
The arrest comes after a two- year investigation into the illegal casinos online and other unlawful activities.
Israeli Knesset member Inbal Gavrieli, who is the daughter of Shoni Gavrieli and the niece of Reuven Gavrieli, refused to allow police investigators to search the family home for evidence that could implicate her father and uncle in running illegal casinos online and money laundering.
When the police came to search the house in which Inbal, Shoni, and other members of the Gavrieli family reside, the Member of Knesset denied them entry, claiming political immunity. In an interview, Inbal said that there was nothing in the home that related to her father’s operation of casinos online.
The Gavrieli clan says that the accusations against them are totally unfounded. Inbal’s father and uncle say that the casinos online in which they invest are located in countries in which the activity is legal.
